In Stage 4 of the cycle, “Analyze Data,” you will support your students as they analyze the data they have collected.

 

You will learn how to help your students work with both quantitative and qualitative data, and about the many options for displaying this analysis. The resources below are scaffolded and differentiated to support you and your students in this process!

4.0 Welcome to Stage 4

This is a welcome page for Stage 4! In this stage, students will analyze the data they have collected. Students will learn to examine both quantitative and qualitative data, and about the many options for displaying these analyses.

4.1 Preparing for Data Analysis

In this 2-3 class period lesson, students will describe the importance and stages of data analysis. Students will also generate a format of their data that can be used in the next stage of data analysis.

4.2 What is Quantitative Data?

In this 1 class period lesson, students will define quantitative data, distinguish between discrete and continuous types, and explain the limitations of quantitative data.

4.3 Analyzing Quantitative Data

In this 2-3 class period lesson, students will create data visualizations of their survey results and generate findings from their qualitative data.

4.4 What is Qualitative Data?

In this 1 class period lesson, students will identify recurring ideas and label them with codes and suggest overarching themes based on qualitative data analysis.

4.5 Analyzing Qualitative Data

In this 1-3 class period lesson, students will generate descriptive and analytic codes for the qualitative datasets, synthesize codes into themes and generate findings from their qualitative datasets, and present their findings and explain their reasoning.
