Middle School

Woodrow Wilson Middle School

In this project, a group of middle school students aims to help all students across the country find out what career they want to pursue. Through collecting data from surveys, they identified the problem and proposed the solution: PathFinder, A website that will be able to assist people in finding a potential career.

High School

Hunterdon Central Regional High School

Presented in Spanish, this project investigates the challenges of the school transportation system, particularly for Spanish-speaking families. Through surveys and data analysis, the students identified issues such as unclear communication, limited bus availability, and inadequate translation of transportation policies. Their recommendations include improving bilingual communication, revising bus eligibility criteria, and conducting family surveys to better address transportation needs.

Plainfield High School

This project explores ways to create effective "Blue Ribbon" classrooms by fostering strong student-teacher connections and promoting engaging teaching methods. Based on surveys and interviews, students highlighted the importance of verbal interactions, positive environments, and personalized instruction. The group’s recommendations include peer coaching, classroom recognition, and professional development to support equitable learning and academic growth throughout the district.

Hunterdon Central Regional High School

In this Spanish-language project, students investigated the fairness of the school’s detention system. By conducting surveys and interviewing the vice principal, they discovered that most detentions result from accumulated tardies and are stricter for younger grades. Their recommendations include assemblies to clarify detention rules and alternative consequences, such as assisting with school events, to foster accountability without discouragement.

Hunterdon Central Regional High School

Presented in Spanish, this project addresses the need for greater support for Spanish-speaking students during their first days at school. Through interviews and surveys, the group found that most students believe additional bilingual student helpers and counselors are essential for creating a welcoming environment. Their proposed solution involves recruiting advanced ESL students to serve as peer guides, helping new students navigate the school and feel more comfortable.

Hunterdon Central Regional High School

In this Spanish-language project, students investigated lunchtime challenges, including limited bathroom access and dissatisfaction with the cafeteria menu. Based on survey responses and an interview with the food service director, they concluded that more bathrooms should be available during lunch and menu variety should be increased. Their recommendations include offering culturally diverse food options and assigning staff to monitor bathrooms for safety.
